How To: Make Your Day Fucking Fabulous (Part Two)

Good morning, buddies! I would have gotten this entry out sooner but I caught this super weird 24 hour bug. I was pretty sure that I had the flu (constant need for the bathroom, hella achy body, upset stomach, feeling cold on a 75 degree day) but after a nice cup of Theraflu tea and some sleep I feel a bit better. Maybe it was just a weird, non-sneezey cold? I still feel weak and sick but I’m feeling good enough to write so I figure I’m on my way to feeling better.

Anyhoo, darlings, here are 15 more ways to create a wonderful day.

In the evening:

1. Make sure to have a good dinner. 2. Drink some water and stay hydrated. 3. Pour yourself a nice cup of apple cider or your favorite tea or hot choclate (It’s nearly autumn- did you really think I would leave out some good fall activities?). 4. Light some candles, dim the lights, watch your favorite tv show/movie and cuddle with blankets on your couch. 5. Do one small chore; hopefully by this time you’ve done all of the big things on your to do list. If not, do what you can. 6. Put on your damn comfiest pajamas. 7. Prepare for tomorrow. I find my mornings go much smoother when I’ve done some prep the night before, i.e: putting out my outfit, packing my backpack, making my lunch/snack, etc. 8. Take care of yourself, whatever that means to you. Just make sure it feels good! Especially in the fall- along with washing my face and brushing my teeth- I like to put on body butter and lotion up my feetsies before slipping into gloriously fuzzy socks. 9. Find a nighttime routine that works for you. Having a routine helps you train your mind and body to start winding down at a certain point in the evening. 10. Try not to go to bed at some ungodly hour. Sleep is your friend, bud. 11. Express your gratitude, be it through adding to your Happiness Jar, a gratitude list, a thankful prayer to whoever you believe in, or just naming things in your head that you appreciate. 12. Try to give yourself 15 minutes of zero technology/lights before trying to fall asleep. If you’re as addicted to your phone/laptop as I am this actually proves to be a bit of a challenge. But I promise- it gets easier! 13. Thank your body for all that it does for you. It works really hard to let you live this life (: Show it some love. 14. Hug a plushie, pillow, person, or pet! Evening cuddles are the bomb diggity. 15. Go to sleep knowing that even if your day didn’t go as well as you hoped, tomorrow is a new, bright day with opportunities and good changes.

How To: Make Your Day Fuckin Fabulous (Part One)

Hello my autumn lovelies! Sorry for my extended absence. I started school and have been pretty darn busy on top of having writer’s block (Can I get a collective ughhh from fellow writers?). But fortunately for me, the Universe decided to smile upon me today and not only give me enough time to write, but even feel hella inspired to! I’m sparkling, babe! Cheers to the end of inspiration blocks and to more happy days like this one! Here are the first 25 tips to make your day as marvelous as your lovely self…

In The Morning~

1. Give your body a good stretch. 2. Give yourself a little time to really wake up so you don’t rush through the rest of the morning. 3. Open those blinds, darling! 4. Say “Good Morning” to at least two people; a good idea for those of you who live alone is to shoot a text to a close friend or relative. 5. Have a big glass of water. 6. Put on your favorite jams and dance/sing your heart out. 7. Check out your inspiration board(s) on pinterest. I swear, everyone should have them. 8. Eat a yummy and healthy breakfast to start your day off strong and have you feeling good. 9. Write down your worries (aka: shit you must get done) on a To Do list so you aren’t frantic throughout the day trying to remember that thing that you should have done two weeks ago. 10. Take care of what you can on that To Do list before you go to work/school. 11. Brush your teeth and wash your face! Sometimes that seriously helps me feel better refreshed and ready for the day. 12. Have at least one thing to look forward to today (new episode of your favorite tv show, coffee date with your friend, petting a neighborhood puppy, etc.). 13. Admire yourself in the mirror, ’cause you are damn fine! 14. Get dressed in clothes that you feel comfortable and confident wearing. 15. Tell your negative thoughts that it’s too early for that shit and they need to go back to sleep. 16. Light a candle in a really nice scent (fall is coming!). 17. Pack yourself a nice and healthy lunch because you deserve good things and good food. 18. Don’t forget a savory treat in that healthy lunch, though! 19. Do whatever morning routine feels good to you and relaxes your mind, be it emptying the dishwasher, making your bed, or doing a quick clean up of your home. 20. IF you have the time, work out! Even if it’s just ten minutes, your mind and body will thank you for it. 21. Fill up a bottle of water to take with you throughout your day. Being hydrated = feeling amazing. 22. Set a small goal for the day and set your mind on accomplishing it. 23.Moisturize those feet and those hands- it sucks and can really be distracting if you have cracked skin (it hurts!). 24. Hug somebody (yes, pets count). 25. Smile and know your day is going to be damn great. ❤

Bouncing back after bad experiences..

Hello, loves. We’ve all had bad things happen to us. We are let down by loved ones, become hindered by an unexpected obstacle, we fail in achieving one our greatly desired goals. It can seriously damage your confidence in yourself and your dreams. You may think, Did I make the wrong choice? Was I mistaken in thinking I could trust myself/that person? Am I not meant to be successful and happy? Will my dreams ever come true?

Talk about low morale.

In simple terms, failure SUCKS. It sucks when things don’t go the way we planned or hoped. And if we’re not careful enough, we can let our egos rule over us and we may vow to never try whatever we did again. That’s how people don’t achieve their dreams, friend. If you really want that job, that success, that whatever-it-is that you want, you need to work for it. You need to work for it hard. Your bruised ego might throw doubts and darts of negativity at you but don’t you dare give up on your goals; don’t fucking give up on your happiness. You need to brush yourself off, give yourself a pep talk, and bounce back into it.

For example, I did not get the job at the library. It is very disheartening for me- I thought it was something in the bag. It was perfection and would have made me very happy. Unfortunately, the Universe decided I wouldn’t have that lovely position. And believe me, it makes me not want to try- what if I get rejected from every job that I truly want? I’m scared of being miserable in a shitty job that will lead me to be a shitty person. I’m not exactly happy at the moment.

But I want to be happy. I want my happiness and a secure future that I will love so I will get back up. I’m going to search for more similar jobs with schedules that will work with mine at school. I will apply for all those jobs that fit my needs/wants best. I will show up to any interview- even those terrifying phone call interviews- and pretend I am a damn confident and sociable person who is 110% up for the job, even though it will be scary for me. I’ll probably fail again, and maybe even a third time. But worrying won’t help; it only hurts.

Give yourself the proper time to mourn whatever loss you have suffered, then focus on positivity, get up, and keep on fighting the good fight. Maybe you’re just one more failure closer to achieving your true dreams and a happy life. Stay strong.

Don’t you dare give up.

Clearer space = clearer mind.

Good morning, babes! Sometimes there is no better feeling than the one you get after working hard to clean, clear, and organize your surroundings. Refreshing your environment seriously refreshes your mind! On days when I feel my anxiety creeping in- attempting to make a horrid comeback- or feeling more depressed than usual, I find that cleaning my environment truly helps to both distract and ground me. I mean, how am I supposed to deal with all of that mental clutter if I can’t even keep my room livable? Having a clear, organized, and positive environment will influence your mind (whether or not you’ll always notice) in great ways. That’s not to say that tidying up the house will always help you get back on track. However, it doesn’t hurt to try. Why not test it out and possibly have wonderful results?

An easy checklist of cleaning and cleansing my space:

– Sweep, Swiffer, or vacuum the floor(s)

– Get rid of all that dust that is making your allergies hell for you

– Put dirty dishes (rinsed!) in the sink

– Do any loads of laundry you’ve been putting off

– Make your bed all comfy and cozy

– Put on some awesome music, open your windows a crack if the weather permits, and light your favorite scented candles/incense

– Disinfect anything you touch often

– Organize random crap into: donate, trash, recycle, keep out, or store away.

– Put away your clothes and shoes (ughh, I know!)

– Hang up something that makes you smile

– Clean your windows, yo.

– Organize remaining things you decided you want to keep in reach

Do you find cleaning your surroundings helps to bring you some clarity? Let me know if my checklist helped you or what you would add to it!

Arsenal of Awesome

Hello my little nuggets, how is your morning going? I didn’t sleep in today but I’ve got an insane determination to do things (GASP! Violet, not being a total couch potato? Who knew.) I’m hanging out with my best friend M today and I simply can’t wait. It’s been too long- hint: it’s been a week- so I can’t wait to grab a cup of tea with her and be silly. Unfortunately she doesn’t get off of work until 8:30, so I am going to find ways to entertain myself until then.

Anyhoo, I thought I’d channel my inner Gala (ohmygawd I’m sorry I keep mentioning her but she’s just so awesome) and post a fabulous set of links to help all of ya’ll with your journey to good health and positivity. Enjoy and let me know if you like any of them. Feel free to post a link that you find helpful.
