New Chapters + Goals

Hello, darlings.

I’m happy to say that the semester is officially over (!!) and I’ll now be able to get back on track with this blog. The past few months of schoolwork and such are done and it’s time for me to process what has happened; i.e. not talking with or hanging out with friends as much, tons of stress over grades, not meeting my own expectations in finals, and the ending of a wonderful, enlightening class about Counseling/Interviewing. Right now, I’m in the process of accepting that this semester wasn’t perfect or incredible and that it is all over.

But all things end.

Tonight is the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Yes, I totally just used a shitty cliche. But damn if it doesn’t apply to the situation perfectly! So while I’m accepting these things I’m also going to be setting up some good goals for myself for the glorious rest time that I have between semesters. I’m going to illustrate those goals, put them up in my room so I can see them every day, and work hard towards them every day. I’m still going to rest a lot (I need the rejuvenation, I worked my butt off this semester!) but I also want to be productive and proud of myself, too.

I feel like even though every day is a fresh start and a blank canvas, this time is going to be more of a new day than ever. I’m excited for what the future holds for me. I’m slightly terrified of what it holds, too. I mean, what if I fail? What if I disappoint myself again?

All I can say to this fear and doubt is: *shrug*

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seriously- I can’t chance being fearful and not getting anywhere. I need to keep on walking forward, even if it means taking tiny steps some days and a couple steps back some others.

What does this time of year feel like for you? Are you making new goals? What would you like for the rest of 2014?

Monthly Favorites of December

Hello there, lovelies of the internet! I hope y’all are having incredible weekends to match your incredible selves. I’v been rather productive and Violet-ish this month so I thought a small Favorites post would be a good way to get back in the swing of daily vlogging. With further adieu~

Scent: Peppermint or Sweet Mint, because it’s chilly out and why the heck not?

Book: I finally decided to read The Help by Kathryn Stockett after seeing the movie (which, by the way, was pretty dang great). I haven’t finished it yet but I like it so far and recommend it to anyone unsure of what to read next. Seems promising!

Music: *warning, some of these may be too catchy to escape* “Close Your Eyes”- Meghan Trainor. “Part Two”- Paramore. “Riptide”- Vance Joy. “All I Want For Christmas (cover)”- Fifth Harmony. & “Can You Feel My Heart”- Bring Me The Horizon.

Word: Lovelies/Lovely.

Color: Soft, light, and pastel colors!

Power Outfit: Comfy and colorful boots, light-washed skinny jeans, a bright sweater, my Trinity Knot ring, and the precious moon and stars necklace I recently got. (Most other power outfits to default to all black and grey, with skulls and creep aplenty).

Snack: Caesar-flavored pea snap crisps, apple slices with peanut butter, or fresh bread with olive oil and Parmesan.

Mantra: “What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” – Buddha.

Holiday Gift Ideas (Handmade & Meaningful!)

Happy Sunday, friends. Even though Monday is close by, let’s try to make every bit of our weekend happy and relaxing. Especially with the holiday season rapidly approaching, we need all the de-stressing we can get! I know it can be difficult to give loved ones gifts to match their awesome selves because we lack time and money. As a relatively-broke college student myself, I was stuck on what to do this year. Here are some of my ideas (except for the idea I did for you, Mom. I know you read my blog. Nice try, but you’re going to have to waiting until Christmas) for great presents that cost little and that you can really put your heart into:

1. Hand-Decorated Mug: Something I did for quite a few of my relatives was make pretty mugs for them. I got a cardboard box (I believe from Goodwill) and then bought a pack of oil-based sharpies. They MUST be oil-based, so make sure you get the right ones! Then I washed and dried the mugs, decorated them each with various patterns, quotes, and drawings, and baked them in a 425 degree F oven for 15-20 minutes. After they’ve baked and cooled off the decorations should stay on even when you wash them!

2. Motivational Poster: My niece mentioned how badly she wanted a poster like the ones I have up in my room (handmade) so I decided to make her one. It might be something a younger kid might enjoy having up on their wall. I grabbed a decently-sized piece of watercolor paper and decorated it with paints, pen ink, rhinestones, and an inspirational quote. It’s something you can do to unleash your creativity and help build up a child’s self-esteem.

Enjoy!

What are your favorite handmade gifts? What are you doing this break?

Gentle Reminder That…

You are worthy.

You are beautiful and stunning and looking hella fine today.

Your insides are just as glowing, too.

Progress is a process, and that you can’t do everything perfectly every single day. It’s one of those things you take one step at a time.

You are bigger than any obstacles heading your way and you CAN overcome them.

This is a gentle reminder that you are just The Bee’s Knees and a little update too. I’ve only got one more week left of the semester (GET YOUR PARTY HATS OOON) and I have a deliciously long winter break- six freaking weeks. I’m excited to announce that I’ll have a lot more time to post here, and maybe even write once a day! I’ve got some big plans for the next six weeks for Scars & Sparkles.. heheh. Stay tuned and I promise it’ll be worth it.

Happy Friday, lovelies. Much love & Good luck,

Violet
